ACSS is responsible for monitoring the recruitment procedures for healthcare professionals in the NHS, namely of Medical Doctors and Nurses.
Medical Doctors
EU citizens with qualifications in medicine must first be registered by the portuguese Medical Society (www.ordemdosmedicos.pt) so as to be able to work in our country.
Citizens of a non-EU country must have the equivalence of the presented qualifications, which can be obtained in one of the portuguese medical schools.

- Hospitals’ websites (available here).
Nurses
EU citizens with nursing qualifications must first be registered in the portuguese Nursing Society (www.ordemenfermeiros.pt) so as to be able to work in our country.
Citizens of a non-EU country must have the equivalence of the presented qualifications, which can be obtained in one of the portuguese nursing schools.
