Internal audit under discussion in the NHS

The Central Administration of the Health System organized on the 21 February, a meeting dedicated to the internal audit and compliance among entities of the NHS and the Ministry of Health, which had more than 200 participants.

Being an important matter to the sustainability of the National Health System, the Minister of Health highlighted the key role of internal auditors in the continuous improvement of the NHS, as well as the Ministry of Health.

The NHS´s website was also identified as an essential instrument that reinforced rigour and transparency, underlining the publishing of information in areas such as access, quality and efficiency.

The representative of the Court of Auditors, present in this meeting, also emphasized the importance of health entities having management risk prevention plans as a means of increasing their independence and accountability. These plans shouldn´t only identify the risks of corruption and related infractions, but also ensure that measures are taken to minimize possible negative impacts.
