45 million for health energy efficiency interventions

PO SEUR – Operational Programme for Sustainability and Efficient Use of Resources has allocated about 45 million euros to the health sector, aimed at the implementation of energy saving measures.

This is the “largest public investment program in the area of energy efficiency,” said the Health Minister, Adalberto Campos Fernandes, during a signing ceremony regarding co-financing, held on the 24th of May, in the University of Medicine, in Lisbon. The session was also attended by the Ministers of Environment and Economy and the Secretary of State for Energy.

Among the nine entities of the National Health Service covered by this financing, stands out Santa Maria´s Hospital with the highest funding allocated (about 15 million). By replacing lamps with LED technology, installing photovoltaic panels in car parking, among other measures, the hospital foresee a consumption savings of one million euros.
